We live in a fascinating time and much is going on. Personally and professionally, I embrace this with great curiosity and optimism. After graduating with a MSc degree from the faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences
(TU-Delft, Netherlands) I see the role of the architect to make clear connections within the complex maze of our current and future surroundings. I believe architecture is the key to integrate different solutions in a functional, holistic and sustainable design. No matter the scale. With the current energy transition and climate crisis, it is important to gain knowledge and be aware on topics often broader than architects are familiar with. This motivates me to step out of the comfort zone and embrace an open and flexible, but thoughtful mindset toward the challenges we are facing.
But, these seductive new insights can’t exist on their own and are applied on a base of down to earth logic, experience and knowledge of proven concepts and history. Besides the challenges that are presented by global factors, architects have the potential to integrate local challenges with a pleasant and functional environment for the people using and experiencing these spaces as well. These experiences should be pleasant and aesthetically pleasing, but also trigger multiple levels of deeper curiosity and excitement, resulting in an increased awareness on broader topics. A fun, almost child-like experience, promotes the exploration and connects different groups in the process. This increases the social sustainability while including the people in important broader topics. When all this is respectfully integrated within the possibilities of the natural surroundings it can be said that the project is a fun, pleasant and valuable development.
My excitement doesn’t stop with architecture only. Since the beginning of my studies, I also developed a broader view on everyday life. My curious and active character drives me to enjoy live, explore new places, understand different ideas and pressures me to convert this gained experiences into creative outcomes. Besides creative experiments through different methods, photography has a constant presence in this process. My knowledge and fascination for the build environment reflects in the planes, compositions and stories I try to capture with my camera.
